The irony is the “you” in YouTube is gone. It’s “WeTube” these people all of them have nowadays the kind of layout Spike Lee had when shooting his indie movies back in the 80s.

The idea the teacher, baker and candlestick maker all alone can just “use your phone” are as dead as Lincoln. Now creators are in the same creative loop Hollywood hopefuls use to be in.

You have financiers, you have etched in stone deadlines. The randomness of posting of where ever you are is not acceptable. The professional sheen these productions have means to obtain it you will work no different than what Hollywood used to do.

I don’t think lots of fans of these creators know this? To be a YouTube star means you are spilling the same amount of blood you would have if you were a traditional actor or producer.

When kids are asked what they want to be and they say creator, I don’t think they meant this new version on YouTube. They wanted to post in their bedrooms in their PJ’s and hit it big.

They will be sadly mistaken.

They are now in the same boat every filmmaker has ever been. That it’s YouTube means nothing.

You will need the same structure and discipline Sean Baker and Oprah has.
